President Messages:

Jilll Pace

August 2016

Greetings to you on this hot summer day in Seattle,
Today I would like to begin by saying a big Thank You. Thank you to the current Board members who have been supporting me and working hard and faithfully in their positions. Thank you to our Nominating Committee (Fran, Michelle, and Christine) for your successful efforts to fill our slate of candidates for the open Board positions for next year.  Your willingness to be a part of this committee and the time you gave to this task are much appreciated.
Thank you to our Cascadia members who said yes when asked to take on the job of being a Board member, and thank you to those who said you would do so in the future. It is critical to our continued success as an RVW chapter to have people willing to step up and say yes, even though sometimes the yes comes with a certain amount of fear and trepidation.  I remind all of us that if you say yes, you will be supported by all those who aren’t quite ready yet to take that step as well as all of us who have done so in the past.  It is with this in mind that I am pleased to announce the candidates for 2017:

President Elect: Christine Taylor
Secretary: Laurie Scholefield
Treasurer: Carole Heath
Registrar: Peggy Starr
Events Coordinator: Cindi Strong (incumbent) Sage MacLoed will become our President

We will vote on these positions at our October/Fall business meeting at Brookhollow in Kelso. (Should anyone else wish to run for any of these Board positions, please contact the Nominating Committee)
Next week we will travel over the mountains to the always fun town of Leavenworth for our August event.  Some of you may be wondering what I was thinking to schedule us there in August when it tends to be very hot. Well, I don’t know the answer to that question, but I do know that after this week in Seattle, we will be acclimated to the temperatures there, where according to my Weather Bug, it will be cooler than it is here at the moment with temperatures in the high eighties to about ninety.  What I also know is that we will have a great time no matter what the weather. Just a reminder that we will have a brief business meeting to vote on the proposed change to our Bylaws and the Chapter Rules. After that, we’ll have our book club meeting and plenty of time to head into town for some shopping, sipping, or sitting.
See you soon,
Elaine Ploegstra
President, Cascadia RVW

March 2016

Greetings to you on a rainy Seattle day,

If I look at the ground, it looks a lot like spring, with daffodils blooming, tulips working their way upward, and blueberry bushes showing buds, but if I look up at the sky, it sure looks like it's still winter. And so it goes in the Northwest at this time of year. The good news is that we will launch our 2016 RVing season in a couple of weeks, no matter what the weather is like.

We will be gathering for our first event at Fidalgo Bay RV Park, near Anacortes, on March 18, for what looks to be a fabulous start to the season. We are expecting fifty enthusiastic women to show up ready to greet friends we perhaps haven't seen all winter, meet new people, and have a bunch of fun.
Our April event will be in Port Townsend, at the Port Hudson Marina and RV park. We will hold our spring general meeting at this event, on Saturday, April 16. The agenda for this meeting will be posted in the near future on the Cascadia website.

Also of interest, I have received word that the owners of the Rest-a-While campground in Hoodsport are working on upgrading their electrical system and should have the work completed by our June event there. They have finished the waterfront sites as well as the area near the clubhouse and will soon be working on the north section of the park. This is good news for all who had issues there last summer.

For our "Cascadia South" members, we hope to see you at an event in the near future after you wend your way back to our part of the world. Safe travels to you all

Elaine Ploegstra
President, Cascadia RVW
