January

Time to Pay Your Annual Cascadia Dues

Happy New Year, Cascadia! It's that time of year again to pay your $10 Cascadia dues. Our Treasurer, Carole Heath, is prepared to receive your money for the upcoming season, so please send your checks to:

Carole Heath
12729 Standring Lane SW
Burien, WA. 98146

Paying the $10 chapter membership fee, however, helps the chapter have a stable base of funding to support its activities, such as paying for this website, paying the substantial deposits that many parks require, and the meals, prizes, decorations, etc., that you will enjoy at our events throughout the season.

September 2, 2013:

Below are the proposed changes to the Cascadia Chapter Bylaws:

Bylaw change explanation:

The goal of the proposed bylaw change is to match the National membership anniversary of Cascadia members.  This change will improve accounting between local and National rolls.  The change would be effective beginning 1/1/2014.

A new position of Membership chair is being tested for 2014 as part of this change.  The woman testing membership chair will match National dues rolls with Cascadia rolls.  She will contact those members that are near to or have not renewed by their anniversary date. She will also review event registration for new members or guests to alert the Cascadia board of needed waivers and fees.

The proposed changes to Article VII Dues:

Section 1:

Current

Fiscal year will be from January 1st to December 31st. Each member will pay Chapter dues established by vote at a general meeting, provided written notice has been given to ALL members thirty days prior to the voting meeting. A majority of all votes cast, including absentee ballots, will be required.

Change to read:

Dues year for chapter coincides with member’s National RVW membership anniversary.

Each member will pay Chapter dues established by vote at a general meeting, provided written notice has been given to ALL members thirty days prior to the voting meeting. A majority of all votes cast, including absentee ballots, will be required.

Section 2:

Current

Dues are payable on or before February 28th and are deemed late after the first Event of each year. Non-payment of dues after this date is accepted as a termination of Chapter membership.

Change to read:

Dues are payable within 30 days of the member’s National RVW anniversary. Non-payment at the first attended event after the member’s anniversary is accepted as a termination of Chapter membership. The member in good standing with National RVW may come to an event, but must pay a $5.00 event fee per person. (replacing entire section)

The proposed change to Cascadia Chapter Rule 4:

Current

Member dues are $10.00 per year and not prorated. Annual dues will be payable by
February 28th, of each year. Members not paying their dues by March 31st will be
dropped from the Chapter roster and have an inactive status.

Change to read:

Member dues are $10.00 per year and not prorated. Annual dues will be payable on the National membership anniversary date of each member. Members not paying within four months of the anniversary date or by the first attended event (whichever is sooner) will be dropped from the Chapter roster and have inactive status.

New Rule Passed Re: No Shows

The chapter experienced a higher than usual number of no-shows at events last season, so in response to a motion passed during the October general meeting, the board passed a new Cascadia Rule (#7) at its January meeting to deal with the issue. The wording is as follows:

Rule #7 - Members registered for an event who have not cancelled ahead of time will be considered a "no show" and will forfeit an amount equal to one night's fee if the member has not shown up by Saturday morning of an event without having notified the park of their intention not to attend.

So, be sure to read the cancellation instructions for each event you plan to attend and follow them so that Cascadia doesn't hurt it's good reputation with the parks we visit. To read the other Cascadia rules, click here.
