Chehalis Thousand Trails Wrap-up

We welcomed about 50 women including 3 new members and a guest.  We enjoyed each others company in a gazebo looking out at acres of green grass, trees, and an occasional deer coming out of the woods. We decided to hold our Friday evening finger food and Easter Egg coloring in this setting.  With the Divas and other helpers, tarps were strung up, extension cords brought in, catalytic heaters, and all to make us comfortable should the winds or cold join us in the evening.  After eating, about 30 showed up to color Easter eggs, thanks to Mary’s efforts.  The kids in us came out and what fun we had.  Grand prize winner was Fran with the most beautiful egg.  There were many others prizes, and it was amazing what was done with all those eggs.  Members arrived into the evening Friday.

Saturday morning found us shuttling all to the breakfast at the lodge which was ours for the weekend.  The rainy day didn’t dampen any spirits, and those driving the cars were always willing to transport those that needed a ride.  We had a demonstration of our new defibulator, by Cheryl and her EMT friend Kathleen, who brought down Resussa Annie for the demonstration of the new CPR guidelines, and working with
Resussa Annie to practice the new 30-2 count.  Individual instruction followed.  The planned bike ride was canceled as the rain reigned supreme most of the day.

Gayle instructed 11 of us in building a drum, stringing and beading, etc. We were joined by one of our new members, Jill.  It was really a good time and we all had many laughs and some frustrations as we worked to tighten the strings.  We had a beat beat beat of the tom-tom on Sunday morning, for those ‘lucky’ enough to hear us. We were very pleasantly surprised when Gail and Millie showed up to say hello. They were on their way down to the Oregon coast.  It was great to see them.  Diane was joined by Kit to present the website to those that hadn’t seen the demonstration at North Whidbey.  Again, thank you for such a wonderful job, and the ongoing updating is very much appreciated by us all.

Anne and Shay are working with them to set up a ‘solos’ section on the site which will be of interest to solo travelers. Following our Saturday evening potluck, we ate cake in celebration of our April birthdays.  Jan and Barb called Bingo, and there were some lucky winners.  After Bingo we spent the rest of the evening enjoying board and card games.  .One of our new members, Pat, showed her stuff in not only the Easter egg decorating contest, but also held her own at Texas Hold’em against the relentless Nancy “Bandit” G.  Other new members that joined us and will be returning are Lori Y.  and Gail A.

Sunday we awoke to no rain, during breakfast at the lodge the Divas hid plastic eggs, and the hunt was a big success.  Our women let their kids out to partake in this ritual.  You should have seen Judy D. and one of our first time visitors, Rogene, running across the parking lot heading for the same Easter Egg.  The big prizes were found by Jan K and Candy W.  I found an egg with a sign that said “jump up and down several times and say I love rabbits”.  Those around me thought I’d lost it, but only doing what I’m told, eh?

See you at Mossyrock!
